PEMBROKE, GA-New York-based Oneida is planning to move a distribution center into a 500,000-sf industrial property on 32 acres in Interstate Centre after signing a long-term lease for the space.
The new facility, part of a 270-acre industrial park, is under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of 2006. Philadelphia-based Binswanger represented Oneida in the negotiation of the lease.
Oneida, an importer of flatware, dinnerware, glassware, china and lines, currently operates out of a distribution center in New York. The company decided to relocate its operations to Georgia because of its proximity to the Georgia Ports Authority, Interstate 95 and Interstate 16. "We are very pleased to have been able to assist Oneida in relocating to a facility that better suits their needs," says Dan Stubbs, vice president of Binswanger's Atlanta office.
This will be the second warehouse for Oneida, which is currently in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The 125-year-old company has operations in the US, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Australia.
Oneida is the second major tenant to lease space at Interstate Centre. Last year, German company Orafol announced plans to open its US headquarters and its first manufacturing facility outside Germany at the park.
