Harbor Group International L.L.C. of Norfolk, VA announced the deal. An affiliate of Harbor Group owns the 844,813-sf State House Square property. With the Travelers Indemnity transaction, the building's leased occupancy is now 96%. The expansion space entails some vacant space as well as former offices of Merrill Lynch, a Harbor Group spokesman says.

Travelers plans to relocate a combination of groups from inside and outside Hartford to the State House Square complex beginning on Dec. 2.

"The expansion of Travelers solidifies State House Square as the premier class A building in the Hartford central business district," states Jordan Slone, chairman and CEO for Harbor Group International. "Our building is now almost completely occupied, and with blue chip firms."

Besides Travelers, other major tenants at State House Square include ING and UBS. Jones Lang LaSalle was the leasing agent on the transaction, with Shawn McMahon heading the team.

Harbor Group International has an investment portfolio in excess of $1.5 billion and currently owns approximately 5.8 million sf of office space throughout the US. It also owns more than 10,000 apartment units.
