MADISON, NJ-This Morris County community's planning board is set to consider a mixed residential/retail property on a two-acre site near the town's border with neighboring Chatham. The developer of the proposed project is Glen Willow Properties, a Montclair-based company.
According to plans unveiled by Joseph Burgis of Burgis Associates, a Westwood-based planning firm working for Glen Willow, the project would consist of 49 residential condos, including six low- and moderate-income units. There will also be 3,500 sf of retail space in two adjoining buildings.
Planning and zoning issues include height--Glen Willow's proposal calls for 42-ft building heights, where current zoning curbs development at 35 ft. The other issue is density, according to local officials--current zoning calls for 20,000 sf of retail only. The proposed site currently houses a vacant storage building and small office, a four-unit apartment building and a two-family house.
