WHITE PLAINS-China-based developer Beijing Yongtai Real Estate Development Ltd. has signed a long-term management deal with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. for its planned 301-room Four Points by Sheraton Beijing, Haidian hotel in Beijing.
Starwood officials report the new hotel, which will open in July 2009, will be the hotelier's first Four Points by Sheraton property in Beijing and Starwood's fifth hotel property overall in China's capital city.
The Four Points by Sheraton Beijing, Haidian will feature 16,800 sf of meeting space, three restaurants, a health club, spa, indoor swimming pool and business center. It will be built as part of a mixed-use complex being developed by Beijing Yongtai Real Estate Development that will feature offices, the hotel and a shopping center. The hotel will be located in the Haidian district, near the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, a major information technology hub in Beijing, as well as the Haidian government district and major universities and research institutes, company officials report.

He adds that the Haidian district of Beijing and the region's information technology zone have attracted more than 1,000 foreign companies and more than 7,000 IT companies.
The latest hotel management deal is part of a campaign to increase its presence in China in the past 24 months. The hotelier now operates 28 hotels in Mainland China, Taiwan and Macau, with 28 properties under construction.
The Four Points by Sheraton brand was introduced in China with the opening of the Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhen in late 2004. The first Four Points in Shanghai, the Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Pudong, opened this year. Other Four Points by Sheraton hotels in the Asia-Pacific are located in Sydney and Geelong in Australia as well as in Chung Ho, Taiwan. New Four Points by Sheraton hotels are set to debut in Dalian, Daning (in Shanghai), Changshu, Tianjin and Hangzhou in China.
