"Approximately 17% of Memorial Sloan-Kettering's patients live in New Jersey, and this new facility will allow many of these patients to receive their care in a setting that's closer to home," says Abe Lopman, executive director of MSKCC's regional care network. "We are replicating Memorial Sloan-Kettering's model of outpatient care here."
Expandable to 162,000 sf, the new construction was designed by the Philadelphia-based firm of EwingCole. MSKCC bought the site from the Florham Park-based Gale Co. in early 2004 and started construction on the facility a year later. The building cost just less than $73 million to construct and is part of an ongoing $1-billion capital campaign launched by Memorial Sloan-Kettering in late 2003.
