Clear Channel Subsidiary Relocates to White Plains

RCS, a broadcast software provider, had considered a number of sites in Stamford, but decided to relocate its world headquarters operations from 12 Water St. in White Plains to space that will encompass the entire seventh floor and part of the second floor of the 445 Hamilton Ave. building. The company is currently the sole tenant at the 45,000-sf 12 Water St. building.

Bruce Rothman, corporate managing director, and Matthew Barlow, executive vice president, of Studley, represented RCS in the 15-year lease transaction. Glenn P. Walsh, senior director of Cushman & Wakefield, represented the building owner Heyman Properties.

Rothman explains that although there will be a reduction in overall space, the deal allows the firm to consolidate its operations onto a much larger floor plate while also upgrading its space from a class B to a class A building.

"RCS wanted to remain in Downtown White Plains because its employees enjoy the luxury of being in a growing and thriving city with its many shops, restaurants, hotels and other types of entertainment," Rothman says. White Plains was the company's top choice, although Rothman admits RCS "kicked a few tires" in Stamford, CT.

Another key to the deal to keep the company in Westchester County was the assistance of Westchester County government and the County of Westchester Industrial Development Agency. The company will receive approximately $110,000 in sales tax exemptions in connection with its $2.4-million construction project to fit-up its new space at White Plains Plaza, according to papers filed with the IDA. The company employs 100 workers in White Plains and 300 worldwide.
