MIAMI-A joint venture of Boca Raton-based Woolbright Development Inc. and Master Development Inc. has purchased a 40-acre site in Kendall for $30 million with plans to build London Square, a 300,000-sf shopping center.
The shopping center will be located two miles south of Kendall Drive and will be the first regional shopping center to connect the Kendall market to the Country Walk market. The center's anchor tenants will be TJ Maxx/Home Goods, Ross Dress for Less and Costco. Other tenants will include Wachovia Bank and Famous Footwear.
"London Square is strategically positioned to serve the retail and restaurant needs of the community, which has been underserved for the past couple of years as the population has grown west of the Florida Turnpike," Mike Fimiami, of Woolbright Development, tells GlobeSt.com.
Developers are planning to begin construction by the end of the year with occupancy in the first quarter of 2008. "We are excited to be developing what will be one of the largest community shopping centers west of Florida's Turnpike in Dade County," says Bob Shapiro, president of Master Development. "This is a perfect market for a development project of this size and scope, which has already created strong interest from retailers."
