ABERDEEN, NJ-Owner Garden Commercial Properties has signed two new retail tenants to its Colonial Plaza, a 170,000-sf open-air shopping complex on Route 34 here. Sleepy's the Mattress Professional has signed on for 7,200 sf, while Famous Footwear has been added to the tenant roster to the tune of 7,000 sf. Terms were not disclosed.
The property is currently undergoing a major makeover, launched a year ago by the Short Hills-based Garden Commercial. "The extensive renovation program at Colonial Plaza is expected to be completed later this year," says Michael Gartenberg, the company's director of leasing. "The project is transforming it into an upscale shopping center with an innovatively designed facade and new parking areas."
Part of the overhaul of Colonial Plaza has already involved converting 25,000 sf of multi-tenant space into a single for new anchor Bed Bath & Beyond. The latter joins the existing anchor, a Super Stop & Shop supermarket, at the site.
Garden Commercial's website currently lists the property with 20,000 sf of space available. The signing of the two new tenants then effectively reduces the shopping center's available space to approximately 6,000 sf.
