Additionally, Timothy S. Hatlestad, president of Scottsdale, AZ-based RE/MAX Commercial Investment, was elected president-elect and will serve as president in 2008. Charles McClure will serve as president in 2009, having been elected to the post of first vice-president. McClure is executive vice president of TIG Real Estate Services, based in Dallas.
Fisher, who began serving his term at the institute's recent business meeting in Tampa, is the 41st president of CCIM and the first from Indiana. Fisher has spent more than 30 years in the real estate business and specializes in developing, leasing and managing investment real estate through the Midwest. Besides being a member of the CCIM faculty since 1980, he has also served the CCIM Institute through many volunteer committees. In addition to his duties as president, he is a senior instructor and teaches courses that address effective decision making for space users and investors.
He has been honored as Instructor of the Year and has also received the Victor L. Lyon Award for outstanding contributions to CCIM Institute Education. The Chicago-based CCIM Institute is responsible for conferring the CCIM designation, which requires commercial real estate professionals to put in 200 classroom hours. The designation also carries professional experience requirements. There are currently 8,500 professionals with the CCIM designation in 1,000 worldwide markets, and 8,200 candidates seeking the designation.
