MONROE TWP., NJ-Work is set to start on Renaissance Crossings, a five-building, 14-acre shopping center at the intersection of Applegarth and Cranbury Half Acre roads here. The developer, the Old Bridge-based Renaissance Properties, has gotten final planning board approval for the project but still needs to get sewer-extension permits from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Prior to construction, Renaissance must first demolish several farm buildings on the site. The developer acquired the property for a reported $1.7 million two years ago from its private owner, who had used the site as a farm,.

An Eckerd's drugstore will anchor the complex, according to Gary Hipko of Renaissance Crossings LLC, the Renaissance Properties subsidiary actually developing the project. The tenant mix will also include a restaurant, a bank branch and other retail tenants to be named later. Office space and a day care center are also part of the approved mix for the project, which will be in the neighborhood of 100,000 sf.
