"People of all ages will be able to use this new facility to learn about the marshes around us as well as the celestial bodies in the sky," says NJMC chairwoman Susan Bass Levin, who also serves at the state's commissioner of community affairs. "This building will be constructed to the highest green building standards, setting an example for the rest of the Meadowlands, while continuing our educational relationship with Ramapo College." The latter, a state institution, is a partner in the project.

According to Levin, the building will have a number of design and construction elements related to green building standards. Among them will be solar panels, utilization of natural light, the recycling of gray water and the use of "environmentally friendly building materials," she says.
