Equibase bought the sites on behalf of a fund managed by the company. The portfolio includes more than 5,000 units and more than 550,000-sf of space. The Extra Space Storage properties purchased include 2875 Edson Ave., Bronx, NY; 590 Revere Beach Parkway, Revere, MA; 1815 Plainfield Pike, Johnston, RI; 2075 S. Military Road, Lake Worth, FL; 3459 State Route 59, Naperville, IL; and 1610 Old Deerfield Road, Highland Park, IL.
John Didrickson, a principal with Equibase, tells GlobeSt.com that the company sees self storage as a great opportunity to generate attractive returns. "This has really become a very acceptable sector of real estate investment. We see continued growth in this business class," he says. Didrickson says he cannot reveal the purchase price of the properties.
