CRANFORD, NJ-Cosi, the Deerfield, IL-based fast-casual eatery chain, has agreed to lease 3,220 sf at Cranford Crossing, a $16-million residential/retail project being developed by the Florham Park-based Westminster Communities. Cranford Crossing, which is rising on South Union Avenue near this city's commuter rail station, will consist of 50 luxury residential condo units and 22,000 sf of retail space in two buildings when it opens this winter. Cosi joins a 7,100-sf Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa as a retail tenant.
Cosi was represented by Tom Butera of Metro Commercial Real Estate Inc. of Conshohocken, PA and Fort Lee. Metro Commercial represents Cosi in the Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey markets. Silbert Realty & Management of Millington is the exclusive leasing agent on behalf of the ownership for the retail portion of Cranford Crossing. Terms of the lease were not released.
For Cosi, which has 110 company-owned and nine franchised restaurants in 16 states and Washington, DC, the signing marks its first location in Central New Jersey. The chain's four existing Garden State locations are all in the northern part of the state, in Englewood, Jersey City, Livingston and Morristown.
