DES PLAINES-Forward Air, a company providing ground transportation services for the air cargo industry, is having a 126,053-sf build-to-suit industrial facility completed at 250 Wille Road. AMB Property Corp. will own the building, and has hired The Missner Group to construct the building.
Forward Air provides services through a network of 81 terminals on or near major airports in the United States and Canada. The company is relocating, and leasing the new building, from its current location at 351 W. Touhy Ave. in Des Plaines.
With a lack of modern industrial facilities in the O'Hare area, many companies are looking for build-to-suit facilities in tear-down areas. The new building will feature an 11,000-sf, two-story office, 24-foot clear heights, 107 docks and three drive-in doors. According to Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler Inc., the O'Hare market is suffering from a lack of new construction in the city's largest industrial market, at about 140 million sf. A new O'Hare expansion has also spurred development and leasing in the market.
Barry Missner did not return a phone call about the cost of construction or the length of the lease. Completion of the project is scheduled for January.
