NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR-Great Britain's Rank Group plc, parent company of locally based company Deluxe Media Services LLC sold its soon-to-be shuttered 712,000-sf DVD manufacturing and distribution site to ODS Optical Disc Service Inc. of Hamburg, Germany. The deal includes DVD manufacturing licenses and equipment.
Details are sketchy because company execs and local officials weren't available due to the holiday. In a press release from Rank Group plc, it says display build and distribution operation will grind to a halt by Jan. 15 at the 9201 Faulkner Lake Rd. The company discontinued DVD packing and replication operations in late November. The lights are slated to go out by March 31.
In the release, ODS says it will continue DVD manufacturing, packaging and distribution operations. ODS' full-service distribution includes physical distribution of DVDs to retailers and rental, order handling and customer service as well as credit control and collection. The workforce size was unavailable by publication time.
"We welcome ODS Optical Disc Service to our business community," North Little Rock Mayor Patrick Hays says in the release. "We look forward to a long and successful relationship with our new international business partner."
