"This school's mission is to facilitate the development of autistic students in becoming independent, productive citizens," says Thomas Walsh, president of Gale Construction. "We're proud to play a role in creating such an important and essential facility."

The U-shaped structure, designed to be barn-like in appearance to blend with its rural surroundings, will house seven classrooms, two gross motor skills areas, two kitchen/dining areas, a conference room, video editing room, infirmary, recreation areas and staff offices. The architect is Hone & Associates.

Currently headquartered in Gladstone, the Somerset Hills Learning Institute is a private, non-profit school that provides individualized, data-based education and behavior-analytic treatment for autistic children.
