REDC is a contract agency of the County of Rockland that is the chief economic development agency for the county. The REDC board of directors announced Freedman's pending departure.
"I've worked in partnership with very talented people in both the private and public sectors of Rockland County and throughout New York State," says Freedman "and, as a team, we've produced innovative programs and enhanced existing ones for the benefit of Rockland County businesses and all county residents."
Freedman will join the National Executive Service Corps as its vice president and regional director for Westchester and Rockland counties. NESC, based in New York City, provides business planning and management consulting services to nonprofits, municipalities and school districts.
Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef praised Freedman's work at REDC. "During her tenure, she has done much to stimulate economic growth and development," he says. "Indeed, she has taken the organization to a new level."
A search committee has been formed to fill the position. William Helmer, chairman of the REDC board of directors, will chair the search committee.
