EDGEWATER, NJ-Construction is now scheduled to start late this year for Edgewater Square, a mixed-use project on the Hudson River waterfront here, approximately equidistant between the Lincoln Tunnel and the George Washington Bridge. Developer National Resources' plans call for 480 high-end residences, a 61,000-sf retail component, a new municipal building for this Bergen County community and a 1,900-foot riverwalk.

The Greenwich, CT-based National Resources, founded in 1996 as the first institutionally funded brownfields redeveloper, has hired Levin Management to lease up the retail space. The site plan calls for a half-dozen retail building situated between the residential buildings and the borough hall, according to National Resources' principal Lynne Ward.

"The location for this mixed-use community features strong demographics, excellent visibility and access," says Matthew Harding, president and COO of the North Plainfield, NJ-based Levin Management. "We are looking for select, high-profile retail tenants. The combination of retailers and high-end residence should make it a major draw in the region."
