Abbott has asked the village to consider a planned development district for a gated, campus-like complex for uses centered on healthcare and pharmaceutical research and development, including related business offices, that would not be open to the public. The site would accommodate 12,000 workers, according to village officials, and would include the construction of a new fire station and water tower.
The Janko Group is in the preliminary stages of deciding how to use its land, with plans including retail, office and light industrial, says Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler Land Group senior associate Anne Dempsey. She arranged the sale, purchased from various farmers, on behalf of Gary Janko, but says she cannot divulge the land price.
"There won't be any residential uses for the Janko site," she tells GlobeSt.com. "It could just be a business park, and could include a retail lifestyle center." Janko is working on securing water and sewer for the land, and waiting to hear what Abbott announces for its property, Dempsey says. Abbott has not had its zoning request approved yet by the Pleasant Prairie Village Board of Trustees. "From what I hear, besides the campus, there will also be two hotels, one with a conference center," Dempsey says.
Janko is also a partner at Quadrangle LLC, which owns various properties in Illinois, Indianapolis, Missouri, California, and One and Two Riverwood Place office buildings in Pewaukee. Abbott officials could not be reached for comment.
