The space on the 20th and 21st floors of the 23-story, 425,000-sf building is currently being renovated. The Hampshire Cos. of Morristown, NJ purchased the property last year and has initiated a complete renovation of the property.

Cantor Colburn currently occupies approximately 35,000 sf of space at 55 Griffin Rd. South in nearby Bloomfield. Cantor Colburn was represented by Robert Kelly, senior director with C&W's Hartford office.

"Our new downtown location will enable us to serve our clients' needs more efficiently," says Cantor Colburn co-managing partner Philmore H. Colburn II. "It allows us to take advantage of a larger potential employee base and it raises the general awareness and image of our firm."

Michael Cantor, co-managing partner of the firm, says that many with his firm are involved in efforts supporting the state's economic development efforts. "We hope our move from the suburbs to downtown will be a help in the economic development of Connecticut generally and Hartford in particular."

The law firm also reports that in addition to its Connecticut office, the company will be opening a new location in Alexandria, VA this summer. Cantor Colburn also has offices in Detroit and Atlanta.
