It is believed that Gov. Eliot Spitzer will also name Loewenson to the chair position of the New York Convention Center Operating Corp., the operating company that runs the Javits Center. That position will need to be approved by the State Senate. While in both positions Loewenson will maintain his position at Morrison & Foerster. There he focuses on white collar defense and SEC enforcement, co-chairing the firm's Litigation, Enforcement, and White Collar practice.
Six years ago, Spitzer, who was Attorney General at the time, nominated and Gov. George Pataki named Loewenson to the New York State Ethics Commission. The group interprets and enforces the state's ethics in government statutes. According to his biography, Loewenson also led an investigation for the Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board of ABN AMRO Bank NV, to look into anti-money laundering practices at its dollar-clearing unit here.
