BURBANK, CA-Champion Development Group of Los Angeles has signed retail tenants for the company's Burbank Collection, a mixed-use condominium and retail development in Downtown Burbank where the 118-unit condominium portion of the project is more than 60% sold out.
The four retailers are Skechers USA Inc., Johnny Rockets restaurant, Café Venizie and Amuse Jewelry. According to Robert Champion, president of Champion Development, the company is focusing on filling the 40,000 sf of retail space with soft goods, appareland lifestyle retail tenants as well as convenience and sit-down table restaurants that will meet the needs of the condo owners and complement the Downtown Burbank shopping District.
The leasing agent for the retail portion of the Burbank Collection is Christine Deschaine, principal at the LA North office of Lee & Associates, who notes that retail sales were up 13% through the end of the year in Downtown Burbank, which serves more than 60,000 entertainment industry employees as well as residents of the area. Deschaine says that the retail space is expected to be 100% leased "well before the project opens in spring 2008."
The Burbank Collection is situated on a full city block bounded by Magnolia Boulevard, San Fernando Boulevard, Orange Grove Avenue and First Street. Its 118 condominiums, built above the retail, include 60 luxury lofts.
The residential portion of the project features more than 30 floor plans ranging from 600 sf to 2,200 sf, with a mixture of sizes that range from studios to three-bedroom units. Asking prices for the remaining units range from $714,000 to $1.2 million.
The Burbank Collection is the second phase of a project called Burbank Entertainment Village, a $90 million urban infill mixed-use development. The first phase was developed by Kansas City, MO-based AMC Entertainment Inc. and completed in July 2003. It is anchored by a 16-screen AMC Megaplex with a Macaroni Grill, Chipotle MexicanGrill and Coldstone Creamery among the tenants that occupy the 30,000 sf of retail and restaurant space in phase one.
