The publicly traded WellPoint, operating as UniCare Life & Health Insurance Co. since 1995, uses the class B office building at 3280 American Dr. as a call center and general office. The building is owned by Nashville-based Healthcare Property Investors Inc., which also owns the abutting Medical Center of Plano at 3901 W. 15th St. At one point, the hospital had shared the building with WellPoint.
The lease took four months to go full circle. Rhodes Baker, senior vice president for Dallas-based Lincoln Harris, the corporate services group of Lincoln Property Co., represented the building owner, who did provide a tenant-improvement allowance to spruce up the office space. Marti Nemer, senior vice president with Jones Lang LaSalle in Dallas, was the tenant's representative.
