The new hotel will have 270 guest rooms and 30 suites, adding to a smaller hotel that's on the property currently, Lucien Lagrange tells GlobeSt.com. Amenities will include a beauty and fitness spa, about 15,000-sf of additional meeting and convention space, and more dining and nightlife options, he says.
A concourse will connect the old and new structures. Construction is expected to be complete in late 2008. "Architecturally, this is a great addition for the community. At 24 stories, it will be the tallest building in the city."
Lagrange has designed, and is designing, many of the Chicago regions iconic buildings. He is the architect for X/O Condominiums, 10 East Delaware Place and Lincoln Park 2520, a 314-unit condominium building at 2520 N. Lakeview Ave., among other projects. On June 12, a Chicago city panel approved $59 million in TIF funds to help build the Lagrange-designed, $457-million redevelopment above Union Station into offices, a hotel and condos in the West Loop.
