The chain, owned by New York City-based Town Sports International Holdings Inc., recently opened a new 24,000-sf location at 1844 Route 6 and Stoneleigh Avenue here. The facility anchors the north end of Putnam Plaza shopping center and is the firm's northern most location. There are a total of 16 New York Sports Clubs in Westchester County, NY and Fairfield County, CT.
"We are very pleased to bring NYSC to Carmel," says Bob Giardina, CEO of New York Sports Clubs. "This opening reinforces the strength of our unique clustering model, which concentrates clubs in urban centers and suburban locations for commuters and families. The Carmel location marks our first expansion into Putnam County and we are pleased that we are now able to reach more members both where they work and where they live."
The Carmel facility features state-of-the-art equipment, audiovisual entertainment and a number of other fitness related amenities.
In May, New York Sports Clubs announced it plans to open a new 42,000-sf location this September at Trump Plaza in Downtown New Rochelle. Its other Westchester locations are in: Croton-on-Hudson, Hartsdale, Hawthorne, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Scarsdale, Somers and at the City Center complex in Downtown White Plains. The firm has facilities in Fairfield County in: Danbury, Greenwich (2), Norwalk, Stamford (3) and Westport.
