Cookson will use its new space for a combination of headquarters offices, laboratory and R&D space. "The company was looking for a centrally located office property that could satisfy both their management and research requirements," says Brian Sekel, managing director of office and industrial properties for the owner of the building and the park, National Realty & Development Corp. of Purchase, NY. "The building fit their needs.

"Middlesex Business Center has a good mix of tenants, many of which are industry leaders," Sekel says. Among the other tenants in the park, a multi-building complex totaling 429,000 sf, are General Electric, PTC Therapeutics and Enzon Pharmaceuticals.

The deal was orchestrated in-house for NRDC by Sekel and Richard Kaufman, the firm's executive vice president and general counsel. Cookson Electronics was represented by Bob Sticht and Tom Kirczow of Grubb & Ellis' Edison office. Terms of the signing were not released.

Cookson's new headquarters building and the business park around it are located directly off Interstate 287. According to Sekel, "there are a limited number of sites available for lease at this location.
