A local development group will build an eight-story structure on 1.6 acres at 10101 Woodloch Forest Dr. It will deliver in early 2009.
The company now occupies 137,000 sf at 16825 N. Chase Dr. A spokeswoman for US Oncology says the move will put employees in one central location rather than spread out in a couple buildings as they are now. "It will also allow us to provide employees with grade A facilities and a better work environment," she says.
She tells GlobeSt.com that US Oncology initially will fill 150,000 sf and grow into the balance. The building will be large enough to cover space needs for the existing 800 employees and future ones.
The spokeswoman says US Oncology's executive team had realized for a couple years that new space would be necessary due to the company's phenomenal growth. Potential sites throughout Houston were considered. She says US Oncology examined aspects from amenities to commute times and determined that the Woodlands was the best location. "This is about 17 miles away from where we are now," she says. "It's a commute, but not a huge change for employees in terms of distance." Contracts are being finalized for the architect and general contractor.
