And the move will be facilitated with the help of a state Business Employment Incentive Program grant, tied to the jobs being retained in New Jersey, and those that will be added. The BEIP grant, which is administered by the New Jersey EDA, will amount to a total of $550,699 over the next 10 years. ITelagen opted to stay in New Jersey after contemplating a move across the river to New York.

"The obvious solution would have been to set up our headquarters in New York City, where much of our customer base is," says ITelagen managing director John O'Keefe. "But the grant, combined with the accessibility of Harborside Financial Center, swayed our decision. Jersey City is a major transportation hub that provides easy access to Manhattan while allowing us to tap into the pool of intellectual talent in New Jersey."

Besides its headquarters operations here, ITelagen maintains five support centers in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and California. "BEIP grants offer important financial incentives to companies considering expansion or relocation to New Jersey," says Caren Franzini, NJEDA's CEO. "They are a key element of Gov. [Jon] Corzine's economic growth strategy."
