LOUISVILLE, KY-Hagan Properties Inc. has broken ground on the first of 500 proposed attached condominiums here at its Signature Point. The project, reportedly expected to cost about $250 million to build, is at South English Station Road, behind Christian Academy's English Station campus.
The first homes now going up will be two-to-three story townhomes. The developer has also proposed the construction of four-unit carriage homes and four-story condo structures, according to its website. The latter buildings still reportedly await city approval. A company representative did not return calls for comment.
On its website, the company says the homes, designed by Fugleberg Koch Architects based in Winter Park, FL, will have "period-specific architectural details in keeping with traditional homes found in St. James Court and Belgravia in Old Louisville, and the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C. Exterior features will include a variety of brick colors, natural stone accents, wrought iron railings and private balconies on both the front and rear of the homes." The company plans to ask for between $400,000 and $530,000 for the units.
Community amenities will include a swimming pool, hot tub, fitness facility, concert amphitheater and parks. The "traditional neighborhood development, or TND, will bring a multigenerational, urban lifestyle to the suburbs," according to a statement on the company's website. The company said it also plans to install trees that it harvested from the site along the recently-completed streets. The project is reportedly expected to be complete by 2016.
