Jones has more than three decades of architectural and real estate experience and has been associated with Kent Swig and Swig Equities for more than 20 years. Jones works directly with Kent Swig, president of the company, to develop planning and design strategies for new projects and for improving existing properties, providing a consistent architectural approach and environmental quality that distinguishes Swig Equities' buildings.
The locally based Swig Equities made headlines recently when it acquired Helmsley-Spear Inc. from the Schneider family for an undisclosed amount, as GlobeSt.com recently reported. Swig Equities is owner and manager of more than four million sf of commercial office space in New York City and San Francisco, and more than 1,200 luxury residential apartments in New York City. Currently, Swig Equities' project development department is undertaking more than $1 billion of development projects.
"I have been working with Phil since 1987 and am so appreciative of his professionalism, knowledge, leadership, and dedication to all aspects of every project that we undertake," says Swig in a release. "He is a consummate professional and a pleasure with whom to work."
Jones manages the professional services of architectural, engineering and special design firms. He works with City regulatory agencies to obtain approvals and ensure compliance with zoning, building code and other requirements and he coordinates with interested community organizations. He works with the Swig Equities' commercial leasing department to plan and design the build-out of commercial and retail tenant spaces and has established design, material and equipment standards for the company. In addition, he works with Swig Equities' property management department to design and implement major building improvements to the infrastructure of existing buildings and to their exteriors. Finally, he assists Falcon Pacific Construction LLC, an affiliate of Swig Equities that manages the construction of all Swig Equities projects.
"I am thrilled with this new title, which is a positive acknowledgment of the many responsibilities and opportunities that I coordinate with Swig Equities," Jones says. "I look forward to the challenges ahead and am proud to be a part of such a knowledgeable and esteemed group of professionals."
Prior to joining Swig Equities, Jones worked with the Macklowe Organization serving as the director of architecture where he managed an in-house group of architects and interior designers that led the planning, designing, constructing and furnishing of a 52-story luxury business hotel and conference center in Midtown Manhattan, as well as other projects. Before joining the Macklowe Organization, Jones was an associate partner at Gruzen & Samton, Architects & Planners, where he managed the planning and design of major building projects and had firm-wide responsibility for its technical design proficiency and project contractual transactions.
