Dick's Sporting Goods opened a 45,000-sf store, Kohl's opened an 89,911-sf store, and Gold's Gym opened a 50,348-sf co-ed gym. The Circuit City store is under construction, and should open by January 2008. Other tenants include Honeybaked Ham, Sleep Outfitters, Sam's Club, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Tim Hortons and National City Bank.

The center has about 12,000 sf left to lease out, says John Mokas, VP of leasing for Casto. He says the asking lease rate is 16 per sf. Mokas says the west side suburb of Columbus has had a rapid retail growth spurt. "There's an upward demographic, and it's right off of two freeways (I-270 and I-70). In the immediate area, there's been a lot of development, with a Wal-Mart, Target, Meijer, grocery stores, a 12-screen movie theater and more all built within the past 10 years. The Target just opened a month ago."

Though company has focused primarily in Ohio, Casto Lifestyle Properties, an arm of the firm based in Sarasota, FL, has been developing retail projects in Florida and North Carolina. A Casto spokesman says the firm is working on plans for a lifestyle center at the former 1.3-million-sf Randhurst Shopping Center, atop a former bomb shelter in Mount Prospect, IL. "We're just at the beginning of discussions about it, we're waiting for one last component of the zoning," he says.
