HACKETTSTOWN, NJ-Global Thinking LLC, a green building consulting firm formerly based in Philadelphia, has been acquired by Mackenzie Keck Inc., the general contracting and construction management firm based here. Global Thinking will continue to be led by Frank Sherman, who is also on the board of directors of the US Green Building Council, and who will also become a VP of MK.
"The value of high-performance green buildings is greater than its environmental and economic benefit," Sherman says. "It represents the new benchmark for design and construction. Green buildings are pushing the architectural envelope."
Functioning as a division of MK, Global Thinking will focus on energy-efficient design and construction, selection of materials and finishes that create a better indoor air quality, and assessment of existing buildings for adaptive reuse. Current projects include consulting for several major clothing and lifestyle retailers, and for several residential developers. The company is also "greening" the new MK headquarters under construction here.
"With the addition of Global Thinking, green building is clearly becoming a major focus of what we do each day," says Dan Keck, MK founder and CEO.
