Work is wrapping up on the 190,189-sf Oasis Medical Tower I and 123-room Oasis Lifestyles assisted-living facility on the 30-acre campus at 11919 W. Airport Blvd. as well as the three-acre Oasis Park. A grand opening is planned for mid-December for the first phase.
The campus' future projects include an urgent-care center and a senior citizens' condominium building. Final bids are being received for general contractors and architects on the remaining development. The project's total build-out is estimated at five years.
A spokeswoman for Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc., which is working with Chaparral on the medical office building's lease-up, says Oasis Medical Campus is a prototype concept in which senior citizens can live next to medical services and remain independent. "When this is completed, the idea is that you'll have condos for people who are retired and they'll have access to hospitals and medical buildings--all in one place," she says. Chaparral Group is weighing options whether to develop and sell or hold the campus for the long term.
The spokeswoman tells GlobeSt.com that Chaparral Group plans to replicate the concept elsewhere in the nation. Target markets are Las Vegas, Chicago, Arizona, New Mexico, Georgia and South Carolina.
