Staubach has referred work in the area to the local firm for more than 15 years. "Staubach wants to build their presence in the Midwest and Kansas City region, and finally, their timing was right," Glaze tells GlobeSt.com. "There's a number of potential customers who can benefit from the company, especially with an extremely active retail market right now." Glaze, who will manage the new office as EVP, has represented firms such as H&R Block, Butler Manufacturing and Gear for Sports in the KC area.
Paul Whitman, president of Southwest Corporate Services for Staubach, tells GlobeSt.com that the move wasn't made to go after any particular client. "It's usually like that, but here, no deal was really the driver," Whitman says. The company is doing construction management for the State of Missouri, but he says it's the area more than any one job. "We think Kansas City has a viable office market, and an incredibly viable industrial market. One of Larry's first responsibilities is to grow the industrial team. Our growth in industrial is one of the reasons we want to be in Kansas City," located at just about the center of the country, Whitman says.
Of the 65 offices, only a handful are in Midwest states, including locations in Detroit, three in Ohio's main cities, Chicago and Minnesota. This new office will pursue opportunities in Missouri and Kansas. Whitman says more Midwest growth is coming. "We will continue to look at other options," he says. "A few people have already asked us about St. Louis, but we want to digest Kansas City first. Going to St. Louis is certainly an option we're going to consider at the appropriate time."
Glaze says he's going to relocate his office to 801 W. 47th St., and will bring his employees along. Joining him in the new office will be Dean Heueisen, VP, Jackie Heueisen, VP-administration and Jennifer Carroll, associate. The new office will open Jan. 1.
