GREECE, NY-New York State is providing a $2-million capital grant to Ortho Clinical Diagnostics to help facilitate its $80-million expansion plans at its building at the Kodak Park complex here. Gov. Eliot Spitzer visited Rochester on Thursday and revealed the state incentives for the project.
Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics is headquartered in Raritan, NJ and is a division of Johnson & Johnson. The firm is planning to acquire the building it currently leases--Building 313 at the Kodak Park complex that is located in Greece and Rochester. State officials say the firm plans to retain its existing work force at the complex of 1,100 and plans to add 50 new jobs in the next three years. In addition to the purchase of the building, the expansion program also involves the purchase of machinery and equipment for the healthcare clinical diagnostic technology company. Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics also has operations at Kodak Park in Rochester where it maintains its research headquarters. The company also operates facilities in Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, Singapore and Australia.
"Ortho-Clinical Diagnostic's commitment to the Rochester community demonstrates that top-flight companies have faith in our collective vision to improve the business climate upstate," Spitzer says. "This project underscores how strategic investment can result in the expansion of a regionally significant manufacturer and employer."

Empire State Development Grant has awarded the $2-million grant. The firm could also be eligible for Empire Zone benefits, state officials say.
