The company has 964 hotels in 70 countries worldwide, including its five brands: Regent Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Hotels & Resorts, Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Country Inn & Suites by Carlson and Park Inn. Yvonne LaPenotiere, the former Americas president, has been named as chief branding officer for the company, a subsidiary of the giant Carlson, which owns companies such as Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and T.G.I. Friday's restaurants.
Kirwin has more than 20 years experience in hospitality. He's previously served at Country Inns & Suites for the company, and as general manager at Radisson hotel properties in Charlotte, NC and Lexington, KY. He began his career with Hyatt.
The company had a few other personnel changes. Franchise development for all brands is now consolidated under the leadership of Nancy Johnson, who will also act as EVP of franchised operations for full-service hotels. Development for new properties will be led by Wendy Nelson, who has been promoted to EVP of Carlson Hotels Real Estate Co., adding the duties of growing the owned and managed portfolio. Steve Mogck will continue his role as EVP of franchise operations for select service hotels.
