According to Robert Pagano, president of the company that bears his name, construction on the anchor combo will start "immediately." The store is expected to be open by the end of the year.
While occupying the site under a single lease, "Toys" and "Babies" will have separate storefronts and separate entrances. They will, however, be connected internally to enhance traffic flow. Toys 'R' Us will shutter an existing store nearby on Route 18 once the new location is ready.
As reported by GlobeSt.com, Pagano acquired the site and its vacant Grand Plaza strip shopping center a year ago for $14.6 million. The seller was the local Brancheforti family, and the deal was brokered by Cushman & Wakefield.
Pagano immediately announced plans for Summerhill Square, and quickly completed demolition of the existing 58,000-sf shopping center. When completed, Summerhill Square's 170,000 sf will be spread over three buildings. With the "Toys" signing, additional tenants are expected to be announced "shortly," according to Pagano.
