The new owners are John Blomfield, previously a hotel operator in Alaska, and Johnny Noe. The deal includes 20 acres of developable land that the new owners will use to expand the resort, HREC broker Michael Cahill tells GlobeSt.com.
Located at one of the entrances to the Going to the Sun Road, the resort opened in 1933 to coincide with the opening of the Going to the Sun Road, and has been owned by the Black Family ever since. Shortly after World War II, Ronald Reagan stayed at the resort during the filming of "Cattle Queen of Montana" with Barbara Stanwyck.
In 2001, the family added the Great Bear Lodge, the most significant addition of luxury rooms at Glacier National Park since the late 1920s. Common amenities include multiple restaurant outlets, a grocery store, gas station and retail shops.
The property has been on the market since 2005. Instead of a straight property sale, the Black family sold the stock in the company that owns the resort.
