University officials have hired Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, a consulting firm affiliated with the New Jersey Nets, to find the sponsor. BS&E is the group that arranged the sale of the naming rights to the Nets' new arena in Brooklyn to Barclays Bank, a deal worth $400 million over 20 years.

While Monmouth likely won't get that kind of a deal, a BS&E spokesman does expect something to happen. "The demand is very high right now," says the spokesman.

The centerpiece of the facility will be a new 4,100-seat arena to house the school's basketball team, replacing the aging Boylan Gymnasium. The latter will be attached to the new complex and will be utilized for intramural sports and community use. The activity center will also house classrooms, a fitness center and the campus bookstore.

"We want it to be the centerpiece of the campus," says university president Paul Gaffney. "The facility fits the notion of overall wellness."
