MGM and Jordan-based Rubicon are exploring the addition of a number of entertainment facilities to the projects Sorouh has under development. Among those developments is Shams Abu Dhabi, a 54-million-sf island project currently under construction that will house 55,000 residents and will be made up of five tower-studded districts.
Sorouh also has under development the 32.3-million-sf Alghadeer, between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which is planned for 18,000 residents, as well as the Golf Gardens resort in Abu Dhabi.
Besides their deal with Sorouh, MGM and Rubicon are partnering to start a consumer-products business in the region. Rubicon produces three-dimensional animated entertainment and has made multimedia presentations for many large corporations.
"In working with Rubicon on this project, we can develop and create unique entertainment destinations in the region," says Harry Sloan, MGM's chairman and CEO, in a statement.
