Both hospitals have main facilities in the area, but this office building will bring services closer to Anson residents, says Keith Konkoli, SVP Midwest for BremnerDuke. "We're starting to see a great amount of development activity here, and this is another piece of the puzzle," Konkoli tells GlobeSt.com.
The building will feature a freestanding emergency department, as well as an imaging center, 5,000-sf of medical offices and an ambulance garage. The facility will be on Heartland Drive, just off of State Route 334. Construction should begin soon, with building completion expected in summer 2009.
BremnerDuke was formerly known as Bremner Healthcare, a 20-year-old company which was bought by Duke in 20087. Konkoli says there are more and more requests for new medical office developments, making the facilities one of the most sought after properties in a struggling economy. "The hospitals are reaching out to provide better services by being in neighborhoods, and seeing the need to provide additional services," he says. The company, which only builds healthcare facilities, is now working on projects in 10 states. "We will start between $300 million to $400 million in projects this year, with an ongoing pipeline of more than $1 billion," Konkoli says.
