The company already built its first Avenue Mall in Zagreb, and filled it with international retailers such as Zara to 100% occupied months before it opened, says a spokeswoman for Colliers International Croatia, which is taking on the marketing and leasing of the project. The company is also working on, or has completed, 17 shopping malls in Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria.
Tomislav Perovic, managing director of the Colliers office, said in a statement that Osijek, the fourth largest city in the country with 120,000 residents, is now starting to attract more development. The region, known as Slavonia, borders Serbia and Hungary and sits astride a major transportation corridor. "International-style shopping excellence in Croatia was once confined to the capital Zagreb, but now it's spreading out throughout the country," he said in a statement.
