TCC will develop the corporate campus at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Grand Parkway near Katy. Construction is slated to begin before year's end, with completion planned for 2010. The KBR campus is expected to take up about half of TCC's land, with the remainder earmarked for mixed-use purposes. The project costs is still being calculated.
KBR's offices are located at 601 Jefferson St. in the Downtown Houston. In a press release issued late Friday, KBR says it will continue to keep a CBD presence after the campus opens.
The campus plan speaks to the residential growth and job creation in the far west submarket. "This site is on the western edge of the Energy Corridor, where a lot of activity is taking place, both with energy contractors like KBR and other exploration and production companies," says Matt Khourie, president of TCC's southeast operations.
Khourie tells GlobeSt.com that KBR's expansion also helps facilitate its long-range hiring plans. "The move by KBR to locate a group of their employees out there is reflective of the company's desire to take advantage of the highly educated workforce that is moving into the new subdivisions out there," he says.
