Bangia tells GlobeSt.com that he took the opportunity to help the tenant-rep firm improve its big-company reach. "They already have a strong presence, but I've been brought in to create a cohesive team to get the national accounts going," he says. He's taking a break after leaving his position as managing director of strategic services at United Properties, and will be starting at his new position on July 1. "I want to really hit the ground running, to start helping them with the unification."Prior to working at United Properties, Bangia was a managing director in the Global Corporate Services unit of CB Richard Ellis. A regular speaker at corporate real estate industry events, he served as director of operations for Struxicon.com, an internet start-up company, prior to CBRE. His career includes 10 years with Unocal Corp., where he handled corporate real estate for a 2.6-million-sf office portfolio.
Though he will work from this local office, Bangia will report directly to CEO Bill Goade in Boston. His hire will definitely help the company reach out for bigger business, Goade agrees. "We need to expand our national account initiatives," he tells GlobeSt.com. "More and more companies are going to the RFP process for outsourcing, they're doing it two or three times as much as they were 10 years ago, and Bangia will help us respond to all that." He says he hopes to have Bangia represent the company at conferences and with promotions.
The CEO says that though there have been national accounts handled by the headquarters office, the goal will be to build the infrastructure and training tools to encourage the 38 other US offices to create these opportunities. "Right now we're at about $150 million in revenue a year, and about a third of that revenue is from national accounts, with two-thirds from local accounts. We'd like to get the cities working together more, and get that number closer to 50-50," Goade says.
