The building will feature classroom space, computer labs, faculty office, student and staff lounges, storage and a conference room. It was designed by the Hasbrouck Heights, NJ-based DMR Architects, assisted by French & Parrello and KS Engineers. It's also been designed to be LEED certified.
"There is clearly a need for more college buildings to support a swelling population," says DMR founder and president Lloyd Rosenberg. Ocean County, straddling Central and Southern New Jersey, is one of the state's fastest-growing jurisdictions, now approaching 600,000 residents.
"We are lucky to have been doing this kind of work for many years," Rosenberg says. "I hope that we can continue to assist in this area for some time."
Enrollment at the two-year institution has been increasing at an average of 7% per year in recent years. Currently, more than 9,000 students attend OCC.
