The company, which has 13 other satellite offices in the region, already built an 85,000-sf medical office and diagnostic center building on the property. The current facility, built for $11.7 million in 2003 by St. Louis-based Paric, now houses 41 physicians practicing in 13 healthcare disciplines.
A Paric spokesman tells GlobeSt.com that the first building is 100% occupied. His firm is also building the second facility. "I don't know if the company has signed leases for any tenants in the new building, but I know there's a waiting list of people trying to get in. There's been very fast growth in the Washington area, and the patient load has increased because of the quality of care at the first building," the spokesman says. The first building has served about 100,000 patients, he says.
When completed, the campus will include an ambulatory surgery center, a cancer treatment center that will provide medical oncology, radiation oncology and infusion therapy, additional physician offices, expanded retail space and meeting rooms, and a three-story parking structure. "Our space needs have quickly outgrown our original projections," said Dr. Michael Rau, chairman of Patients First, in a statement.
Northstar Management, a representative of Paric, will manage the building when it is completed. Lawrence Group did the design, and the Bank of Washington is providing the construction financing.
