With some $1.5 billion in private sector investment made in NoMa over the last year or so, the District has been increasingly plowing budget dollars into the submarket's improvement, NoMA BID president Liz Price tells GlobeSt.com. For instance, it is making major upgrades to the intersection of New York and Florida avenues, a critical intersection in NoMA. Chieco "will serve as liaison between the public agencies and BID members to better coordinate these projects," Price says. Chieco was manager of Community Outreach at the Urban Land Institute prior to her move to NoMA BID.

NoMA BID has also elected five new members to its Board of Directors to serve three-year terms at its second annual meeting. They are Bob Elliott of JBG; Jim Evans of Tishman Speyer; John Gordon of Polinger, Shannon & Luchs; Dennis Paul of Paul's Wholesale Florist Co.; and Fred Rothmeijer of MRP.
