The company renewed its automotive division headquarters lease at 39001 W. 12 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills for 10 years. The company also signed a 10-year lease for 51,000-sf in the LaSalle Technology Centre South building, at 28845 Cabot Dr. in Novi, for a new engineering center, where it will invest $10 million. Finally, Harman is also leasing 6,000 sf for a short term at Cabot Technology Centre, at 28700 Cabot Dr. Chris Secontine, with Signature Associates, represented the tenant in the leases.
With the leases, the firm is consolidating design and development operations for automotive audio systems, and moving some work into Michigan from other states. In return, the state and city have agreed to a $2.5 million tax credit over seven years, an expedited review and inspection process and funding toward public infrastructure improvements.
Northern Equities Group, based here, is the owner of the buildings. Matt Sosin, president of the firm, says the Haggerty Corridor has had positive absorption with continual leases. "We just got site plan approval for a new building at the corporate park," Sosin tells GlobeSt.com. "The Mckenzie Technology Center will be 50,000 sf. We'll be starting that building either this year or spring of next year, we're still waiting on a building permit." He says it will be a speculative building, but that the company already has four proposals that would fill the facility.
