The resort's joint venture owners--Chicago-based Walton Street Capital LLC, Rockpoint Group LLC of Boston and SCS Advisors Inc. of San Rafael, CA--are finalizing plans to redo the 32-acre resort at 6160 N. Scottsdale Rd., near Camelback Mountain, Old Town Scottsdale and a variety of area golf courses. The blueprints include upgrades to the asset's 107 suites and a new fitness center.

"The property will be repositioned into an upscale, independent resort," says John A. Belden, president and CEO of Memphis-based Davidson. Part of the repositioning included a name change from Renaissance Scottsdale Resort.

Details about the renovation and amount to be invested weren't available by deadline. The hotel's rooms range from 485 sf to 700 sf. The average daily room rate ranges from $250 and $325. The resort has three restaurants and 8,000 sf of meeting space.

Scottsdale Cottonwood Resort is the fifth hospitality property to fall under Davidson's auspices this year. In a press release, Belden says the plan is to continue to grow the company's portfolio nationally, with Phoenix considered an area of interest. "This is DHS' first property in Arizona and we'd like to expand our growth, largely in the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas," he tells GlobeSt.com.
