The developer, Conway Surgical Hospital LLC, consists of a partnership between local physicians and Cirrus Health of Dallas. A spokeswoman with Cirrus Health declined to discuss the cost of the project, which will sit on 15 acres at the corner of Exchange Avenue and United Drive. Area sources believe that the hospital will cost $17 million to $25 million to build.

The acreage has enough room for a medical office building, but the spokeswoman tells GlobeSt.com that the office component is still in the planning stages. The hospital will have eight operating suites, 25 medical and surgical beds and 24 cardiac beds.

The spokeswoman says Cirrus Health is planning to hold the hospital for the long term. "Currently, Conway and Faulkner counties have a significant out-migration of patients to Little Rock for heath care they should receive in this community," the spokeswoman says. "Additional and higher quality health care services locally would curb the out-migration while better serving the residents of Conway and Faulkner counties." Corgan Associates Inc. of Dallas designed the hospital.

Conway is about 20 miles north of Little Rock. Its population is 52,430, according to the most recent statistics from the US Census Bureau. Patients currently obtain medical care through the Conway Regional Health Care System, which is anchored by the Conway Regional Medical Center. The medical system services a five-county region.
